IN THE WAY

This is an updated version of the song “Lord You Have a Way” that appears (twice) on “Alive in the Chapel.”

THERE’S A SAVIOR IN HEAVEN
This song was originally left off of this Album.  (For more on that see the 13th paragraph of the Explanation page for And… Awake June 2016.)  However, after being a part of the Ebenezer Stone albums for several years, I decided to finally bring it back with the rest of the songs recorded for this album. It does fit here after all.  Although not specifically written for our son, Michael, I was definitely thinking specifically about him as I sang for this recording.  Written by * 12/21/03.

Recorded Saturday 8/19/17 between 2:00 and 5:00 pm

THE MAN GOD USES

This was inspired by the book of the same name by Pastor Chuck Smith.  I first performed it during a Calvary Chapel Men’s Retreat a few days after writing it, although it sounded quite different then.

Recorded 8/20/2017 between 3:30 and 5:00 pm

WHAT I WAS CREATED FOR

This was written while I was mowing the grass at 914 Kirkpatrick Street in Syracuse one morning.

Recorded 8/19/2017 between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm

THE BREAD OF ADVERSITY

This was written during a personal reflection time at a one day getaway retreat with the other Chaplains from the Spiritual Life Team of the Syracuse Rescue Mission.

Recorded 8/20/2017 between 2:45 and 3:30 pm

THIS IS A TEST

This was written with my wife, Laura.  She suggested much of the biblical content of the song.

Recorded 8/20/2017 between 2:00 and 2:45 pm

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

This was written around midnight in a hotel room near Cincinnati Ohio.

Recorded 8/20/2017 between 12:00 and 2:30 am

GONNA GET BETTER

This is one of my oldest songs.  Originally written in my car, in a McDonald’s parking lot in Peters Township, Pennsylvania, during a crazy thunderstorm downpour in the mid-1980’s.  The verses and the chord structure were updated in the early 2000’s, and then the chord structure was updated again in the early 2010’s, but the chorus has remained the same.

An earlier incarnation of this song appears on “Alive in the Chapel” as “Better Than This.”

Recorded 8/27/2017 between 8:00 and 9:30 pm

ARE MY FEET BEAUTIFUL?

This was written on a drive from Syracuse New York to Cedarville Ohio; captured on a napkin at Mr. C’s restaurant along the way.  I had seriously been considering my bare feet just the day before… having read from the Book of Isaiah that morning.

Recorded 8/20/2017 between 10:30 pm and 12:00 am
