…AND LET THE HILLS HEAR YOUR VOICE
Do you think that God does not deserve to judge you?
Has no right to judge you?
Is unable to judge you?
Won’t judge you with exactly the same criteria as He judges everyone else?
Okay – the Book of Micah suggests that you plead your case…
As loudly as you possibly can!
Go ahead. Go for it… Why shouldn’t (or can’t) God judge you?
Go outside and plead your case so very loudly that the hills themselves can hear it!
But then what?
Your shouts and reasoning drift off into thin air…
And God remains.
He has always been.
And will always be.
Those hills themselves (and the sky behind them) declare to us who He is.
And if whatever you believe is not in agreement with His Word (the Holy Bible), then you are hopelessly (and dreadfully) wrong.
God doesn’t seem to mind allowing us to plead our case to Him (or to the hills), because (1) He knows who’s right and who’s not, and (2) because sometimes when we actually say “what we believe” out loud and we hear it with our own ears, we realize what foolishness it really is.
I used to believe a lot of stuff, until I understood that most of what I believed in was merely “opinion” – not fact. And no one’s opinion will ever supersede the facts of God, nor the love of God.
The Bible presents the facts, and the Bible testifies itself to be true in numerous places, for instance:
Psalm 119:160, Psalm 33:4, Proverbs 30:5, Ecclesiastes 12:10, John 19:35, Romans 9:1, 1 John 5:20, Revelation 21:5, John 17:17, Luke 1:1-4, 1 John 1:1-4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 21:24, 1 Timothy 2:4&7, Psalm 18:30, John 14:6. Check ’em out.
The truth (as per the Bible) is that there is only one Holy God who has the authority to judge all mankind (whom He created); that man is separated from this Holy God because of sin – intentional sin and unintentional sin; that God Himself devised one and only one way for man to be redeemed from sin: by the willing sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the only sinless one who was (and is) both God and man, who died to pay the price of sin for all mankind because of the relentless love God has for mankind; and that Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead signifies the reality and truth of this whole deal, including His appearing to many witnesses and His sending of the Holy Spirit, which is evident today in the lives of true Christians.
So plead your case.
And let the hills hear your voice!
But know this…
Your only plea – the only case you honestly have to make is this:
That Jesus died for your sins to redeem you to the one and only Holy God who sent Him, and that you must respond to His sacrifice for you by believing in it, confessing it, and by trusting in Him and Him alone for the rest of your life here on earth.
Your only plea is “JESUS!!!“
And let the hills hear your voice…
