THE MAN GOD USES
Well I snuck out on a cold December morning with a rickety old shovel in my hand | Made my way down to the house of widow Johnson | Began to do | Exactly | What I’d planned | She never saw me coming | And no one was the wiser | And I finished there quietly in the dark | And on my way home from shoveling her driveway | I retraced my steps and I left barely a mark | See, for the widow Johnson, these years’ been pretty lean | And the man God uses doesn’t have to be seen
Well I was out on my way to the market when I came upon the future of this world | Five teenage boys were blocking the sidewalk surrounding a frightened young girl | Well I reached in among them and took her by the hand | So they pushed me and had some words to say | I just looked them in the eye with the love of my Savior | I kinda smiled | We let the girl walk away | And I kept right on going without saying a word | ‘Cause the man God uses doesn’t have to be heard
Now maybe you’re thinking, who’s this guy? | Over there singing about not being seen or heard | We all take the chance of looking like the hypocrite when we speak and share and proclaim God’s Word | You see, He gave me this passion | Gave me words to sing | And He gave us a couple chords to play | I’m just an unworthy servant | Doin’ what He’s asked me | I pray He’s using me to call to you today | I’m a citizen of heaven: | My Father’s kingdom | Just praising God for His mercy and His grace | I say, Lord, I am able, willing and ready | If it be Thy will, use me in this place | See, the man God uses is never seeking praise | The man God uses just gets out of God’s way
